With Kevin Garnett serving a one-game suspension, the Celtics needed a total team effort against the New York Knicks on Tuesday night and got just that.
The contributions came from everyone. Kendrick Perkins had 16 points and eight rebounds. Leon Powe added 14 and seven. Even Brian Scalabrine got into the act with eight points, including a clutch 3-pointer down the stretch that helped seal a hard-fought 110-101 victory.
Paul Pierce led the way with 22 points for Boston (10-2), the first team to reach 10 wins this season. The C's have won eight of their last nine games as they gear up for the return of "The Big Ticket" and the arrival of the Detroit Pistons on Thursday.

The Boston Celtics teamed up with Kia Motors today to encourage Boston Public School students to increase their exercise by walking to school. Celtics players Tony Allen and Brian Scalabrine led a group of students in East Boston to the James Otis Elementary School in the form of a walking school bus. After arriving at the school, a special assembly was held for all students at which the Celtics players spoke to the students about the importance of being physically active to maintain a healthy mind and body.
